About KC Education

Consultant | Author | Educator

I’m Kirsten Colquhoun, an education consultant, author, and Pastoral Lead based in Scotland. With over 15 years of experience working in schools and a Master’s Degree in Education, I am passionate about supporting educators and fostering pupil wellbeing.

Over the last five years I have increasingly engaged with educational research, conferences, and consultancy. In 2023, I published my first book, A Practical Approach to Pupil Wellbeing, to provide practical strategies for creating inclusive and supportive learning environments. My next book, Transforming Tutor Time, is due out early 2025.

How I Work

I work closely with schools and educational organisations to deliver tailored, evidence-based strategies that are practical and impactful. My approach bridges the gap between theory and practice, ensuring the solutions we develop together are suited to your school’s unique context.

As both a parent and a teacher, I have a deep understanding of the demands and pressures schools and educators face today. I know your time and resources are precious, and I am committed to ensuring that any time spent working with me is productive, and effective.

My continued work in schools keeps me grounded in the realities of classroom dynamics, allowing me to provide relevant, workable advice that truly supports teachers, leadership teams, and support staff.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with major publications such as Hodder, TES, HMC, Hachette Learning, John Catt Educational and Routledge, contributing my insights on education and wellbeing.

I have supported individual teachers in refining their practice, delivered keynote speeches at major conferences, and run regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions for schools, staff, and leaders.

I have supported elite sports teams in considering their approaches to wellbeing, mindset and the wider influences on young sportspeople.

My experience ensures that I bring a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to every collaboration.

My philosophy is straightforward: when individuals feel a sense of belonging, their engagement and potential for success increase significantly. Teaching is hard, and educators are constantly being pulled in many different directions. That’s why I aim to make finding effective professional development one less worry when you work with me.

Choosing to work with me means partnering with someone who is deeply invested in the success of your school, pupils and staff. My consultancy isn’t about quick fixes; it’s about creating meaningful, lasting change.
